If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.

Palak Sharma, an intern in the marketing team at Nimbbl highly believes in the power of manifesting and giving everything a shot. I remember when she had just joined the team and openly spoke about how new and unexplored the Fintech industry was to her. She decided to empower herself with the basic terminology and knowledge of the industry and never looked back since then.
Inspired by the Japanese proverb, ‘Nana korobi ya oki’ (roughly translated to ‘Fall 7 times and stand up 8’), she believes that setbacks are a part of life and we should always extract learnings from them. She has been an active member of the dramatics and debate society at her college. (I believe that’s where her proactiveness and critical thinking ability came from!)
I know her as a lively and optimistic person inside out. Here’s spilling the beans about what helps her keep happy and positive during her work at Nimbbl and in life.
Q1. What is it like to be an intern at Nimbbl?
Being an intern at Nimbbl gives me space to experiment, make mistakes and learn from them. Every single day! I have got an amazing bunch of colleagues who guide me and help me get a deeper understanding of the industry.
Q2. What do you start your day with?
I wake up at 5:30 AM. Kickstart my day with two warm glasses of water, sipping as slowly as I can to feel the morning stillness. Then go for a morning walk and run with my mom, an activity which I have started recently, but fills my whole day with positivity. Post that, I do some stretching and muscle strengthening. The morning routine finishes with a 15 minutes meditation and a healthy breakfast.
Q3. Fill in the blanks – Working at Nimbbl is –
Working at Nimbbl is enriching and exciting.
Q4. How do you like to spend your weekends?
I usually spend weekends with my family. We discuss our past week, spend some time soaking up the sun in the parks and play games! I also like to read books, so take some time out for book reading as well.
Q5. What’s the one thing you wish people knew about marketing?
Two things.
1. It’s not easy and NOT everyone can do it!
2. Contrary to popular belief, marketing is not just about writing content, posting memes on social media. It’s first about knowing your customer and product details in and out. Then comes strategizing, planning, ideating, and tracking the campaigns.
Q6. What’s a red flag when it comes to a marketing strategy?
Not being empathetic towards a particular community, feeling, or religion when delivering your marketing message. Even a big brand can tarnish its image when not introducing empathy into its messaging.
Q7. Tell us about a time you laughed out a lot at your work-related blunders.
Being in marketing involves a lot of content creation and putting forth the company’s voice through different channels. One fine day, when I posted from our company page on social media, I was quite excited for the post to do well. But contrary to my belief, the post had a couple of grammatical errors. Received a call from a senior team member about the errors asking to delete the post.
Instead of deleting the post right away, I insisted “oh wait, let me ask Prashant before deleting the post”. We spoke, deleted the post quickly and decided: do what is right, don’t wait for approvals. I got my lesson,” It takes so much effort to build a brand, one post is all it takes to bring that down”. These words have stuck with me till now and will remember them going forward too. We had a good laugh on it later that day.
Q8. One thing that you like the most about your workplace?
One thing that I admire the most at Nimbbl is the never-ending hustle to get better and better every day. Every employee here is equally dedicated to reaching the organization’s goals.
